What have I used: Google's Opal (uses Gemini under the hood)

Short version: paste a list of things to draw, pick a style, and ImageCrate ships an HTML with cute images and alt text. That’s it.

**Make sure you are on a US VPN to access Opal as it is currently not availabe to Indian users.

Why I built this

I’m building a select‑and‑learn tool for neurodiverse kids. Early prototypes needed lots of simple, consistent images (animals, shapes, everyday objects) for matching and choice‑making screens. Making them one‑by‑one was slow, so I carved out this micro‑tool to batch the boring part. Now I can spin up 20 clean, kid‑safe images in a single run—and reuse them anywhere.

What it is

ImageCrate is a small Opal app for parents, teachers, SLPs, and kids. It turns kid‑friendly prompts into:

  • Images in three vibes: Coloring Page with only black outlines, Real-life image with white background, Storybook Scene

  • Alt text for accessibility

  • A ready‑to‑share Google Doc (print, export as PDF, or copy/paste)

How it works (under the hood)

  1. Item List — Paste prompts (one per line)

  2. Generate image prompts — Cleans/expands to safe, descriptive prompts

  3. Generate kid-friendly images — Produces images in the chosen style

  4. Generate alt text — Writes concise, neutral alt text

  5. Creates an HTML document — Bundles everything into an HTML file

  6. Completion Webpage — Download file, use later

Opal Workflow
Opal Workflow

Opal keeps this as a single, reliable flow: no deployment, no glue code, and a shareable run‑only link for collaborators.

How to use it

  1. Paste a small list like:

astronaut llama rainforest frog friendly robot

  2. Pick Style → Coloring Page / Real life / Storybook Scene

  3. Hit Run → open the Doc → print or share

Tips: Short, concrete prompts win. For high‑contrast outlines, choose Coloring Page.

Safety, briefly

Light prompt‑cleaning keeps requests age‑appropriate; outputs bias toward friendly, non‑scary depictions. Alt text stays factual and concise.

Fork it (10‑minute remix)

Hit Remix in Opal, swap the input for your use case, add 2–3 examples, and ship your own run‑only link. Love to see what you build using this. Drop an email at anshul.kukreti@live.com
